The world of teaching and learning is overflowing with information about methodologies for teaching today’s digital learners. INFOhio has taken a graphical approach to incorporating information literacy skills, national standards, instructional strategies and a variety of electronic resources through the Inquiry and Knowledge Building Process chart. The process begins with the INFOhio Dialogue Model for the 21st century, which introduces teachers and students to an inquiry-based research model.
The Inquiry and Knowledge Building Process chart highlights the relationships among the stages in DIALOGUE with the inquiry process and how students can use this model to build new knowledge. Feel free to start anywhere on the chart and explore. The left hand column depicts the DIALOGUE model. The second and third columns create the linkage to the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Standards, Standards for the 21st Century Learner from the American Association of School Librarian (AASL) and the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The next column in the inquiry and knowledge building process chart is instructional strategies. Here you will find modules created by INFOhio in partnership with Montgomery County Educational Service Center that establish an explanation of the instructional strategy, demonstration of the strategy in action, and the INFOhio resources and other web-based resources that support the instructional strategy.
Take a moment right now and begin your own inquiry and knowledge building by exploring the many ways INFOhio’s inquiry process model can build creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and information literacy skills. View this Prezi presentation demonstrating the DIALOGUE model.
